MISSION SUPPORT: Public Relations and brand support
After securing $1.5 million of a $3.7 million goal for a not-yet-public building campaign, Family Promise of Orange County (FPOC) – a local, interfaith nonprofit that helps families experiencing homelessness achieve housing stability – needed public relations and brand support. The initiative, titled the “House of Ruth” building campaign, aimed to raise funds for the construction and staffing of an apartment complex and community resource center offering short-term transitional, private residences in Tustin to more than 200 struggling families each year, tripling FPOC’s overall capacity.
FPOC enlisted the team at Rocket Launch to create campaign messaging and visuals, build a House of Ruth brochure and video, and raise awareness for their efforts in order to help garner additional donations to break ground on the House of Ruth building site.
With a nine-month timeline and a strict budget, Rocket Launch’s overall strategy centered around two goals: to boost FPOC’s position as a premier nonprofit organization addressing homelessness locally and to increase regional awareness of its building campaign. From these goals, the Rocket Launch team developed SMART objectives to secure media placements and interviews for FPOC’s executive director, host in-person events around the House of Ruth announcement and groundbreaking, and support FPOC-branded events with media relations activities.
Rocket Launch completed the plan as originally intended, exceeded all SMART objectives, and executed the strategy under budget. After implementing the building campaign and analyzing results, it was clear that general FPOC news resonated well with both OC/LA and national media. Beyond this initial project, Rocket Launch continues to work with FPOC on an ongoing basis to continue their momentum and growth.
Additionally, Rocket Launch was honored by Orange County Public Relations Society of America (OCPRSA) with a PROTOS award – Total Nonprofit Program – on October 7, 2022, for their work to ensure the success of FPOC’s House of Ruth building campaign.
